How To Be Funny And Make People Laugh

By Oliver Preston

Establishing new relationships becomes an easy task if you have the inborn ability to make people laugh and put them at ease. Funny people tend to view things at different standpoints, thus, they are usually witty and sharp in thoughts and have very good communication skills.

Excellent comics are usually born with this ability to make people laugh. Although for most people it is something that they are born with, the truth is the art of making people laugh can be developed. In fact, you will be surprised to know that some famous comedians have a serious disposition in life, and are not funny in person.

It is not enough that you are funny though especially when you do not know WHEN to be funny. Likewise, the approach to humor also varies depending on the setting and the occasion. For instance, you cannot throw punch lines when attending serious board meetings or attending a funeral. Remember, there are suitable times when and when not to tell a joke.

The strategies below will help you learn how to be humorous:

Do not be embarrassed when delivering your jokes. If you show you are not confident, people will not take you seriously and the more they will not understand what is supposed to be funny. Therefore, be daring and convincing. If you have to use gestures and facial expressions, do so.

Observe how others make people laugh. You have to learn from other people for you to improve your style. You do not have to copy them, but at least get ideas on how they use their facial features and body to emphasize their points.

Treat mirrors as your best friend if you plan to make a career out of making people laugh. There are no directors to tell you how to deliver your lines or act out your lines, thus, you should be able to see whether what you are doing is really funny or not. Doing so will also help perk up your acting.

To make your skits more interesting, amplify situations and use colorful words to describe events. Put hidden meanings or double meaning lines to capture the interest of your audience, but just ensure that there are no children listening to those kinds of jokes.
