By Raphael Smith

When you ride any type of motorcycle you should heed to some motorcycle safety tips Whether it is a small or big motorbike, there are always some safety tips to take into consideration. Bigger motorbikes are faster and therefore there is need to be even more careful. They have however, increased the safety of motorbikes in general.

When you start riding a motorcycle, you should do so with the right attitude from the start. That is, that you are riding a vehicle on the road and sharing it with many other types of vehicles as well. You must also remember that you are responsible for your own safety as the other vehicles are not always aware of your presence.

Your visibility can be increased immediately if you turn on your headlight on high beam. A jacket with reflectors or a reflector belt will make night travelling easier as you would make yourself more visible.

As a motorcyclist, you should always wear a helmet and protective clothing. The helmet is a necessity, as you need to protect your head against a fall. The visor is as important, because this is what you look through. If it is scratched and the sun catches it, you will have zero visibility. For a better vision, you could have it tinted.

Another way to protect your visor is to use tear-offs. If it had been scratched, it is necessary that you replace it. The visor has important role to play, as it protects you face against flying insects, small pieces of debris as well as the wind.

Servicing and maintaining your motorbike plays a vital role in safe motorcycling. You must check the chain or the belt of your chain driven or belt driven bike regularly. If it is showing any slack, you should replace it, as it can cause a very bad accident.

Tires are an extremely important part of a motorcycle as well, as it is what keeps the bike on the road. You should watch your rear tire especially as it wears down quicker than the front tire. You have to keep the pressure up to standard, as blowouts have been known for many motorbike accidents.

Rain has a tendency to make the road markings very slippery. These can be dangerous and it is a great idea to try to avoid them. When it does rain, you should be extra cautious as you are more inclined to slip and fall, because you are on two wheels.
