By Mandy Hannah Sanchez

Have you always had an interest in photography but weren't sure how to get started? Are you uncertain about how to frame a shot or what lighting suits which mood? Whether you are an experienced photographer or not, you can use the tips in this article to help you improve your skills.

When you're just purchased a new camera, take a little time to focus on basic photography skills. Learning the basics of composition, lighting and exposure will enable you to take beautiful snapshots without much effort. ISO, aperture and shutter speed are customizable features you should also familiarize yourself with.

Take the time to read your camera manual. Manuals can be thick, heavy and contain a lot of technical terms. People will shove them in a drawer or even toss them in the trash. Open it up and read it instead of doing this. It can enable you to take better photos, and it will also prevent you from making stupid mistakes.

Know how to correctly hold your camera before you take any photographs with it. If you are not educated in how to correctly hold the camera, then you are unable to obtain a stable image. If you are right-handed, you should use your left hand to support the lens of your camera; your arms should be positioned snugly against your body.

Influence your environment by arranging what you want to photograph. Be self-confident enough to give your subjects good guidance for the best possible results. If you take the time to do this, your pictures will end up way better than just taking random shots.

When you have a terrific photo opportunity, don't let the moment pass and lose the photo while you are busy adjusting settings. You may not want your camera to be on auto mode and let the camera choose its own settings! Know your options, and choose a setting that lets you switch certain elements you wish to control.

When looking through your camera viewfinder picture it in three separate sections. Place your subject at the point of intersection, instead of in the middle of the shot, and suddenly your picture has a sense of drama.

If your batteries are fully charged, you never risk missing the perfect shot. Digital cameras consume a lot of battery life, particularly when you use the LCD screen; therefore, be sure that your batteries are charged fully before you need to use your camera. Have an extra set of batteries on hand so as to always keep shooting.

Low-light photography can be tricky since they have a tendency to blur. To prevent this blurring, hold your hands as still as possible whenever you are taking a photograph in a low light setting. If you have trouble with keeping still, prop your hands on a hard surface. Serious photographers accomplish these shots by using tripods.

Excelling in photography takes dedication and persistence, yet can be elevated to a true art form. There is quite a bit of complexity involved in shooting good photographs, especially since many options are neither right or wrong, and these tips should help you move forward and create more beautiful photos.
