His talents as songwriter and singer are doubled by his achievements as multi-instrumental musician. Yet, Gotye is unquestionably not a 2011 discovery, as the artist has other awards to boast within his musical career.

Gotye, Wouter DeBacker, by his true name, is of Belgian-Australian origin. His tunes were originally played on the Australian radio back in the early 2000s.
At the time, Gotye started playing with fellow singer-songwriter Kris Schroeder under the brand of 'The Basics'. They released 4 albums together between 2004 and 2010.
