Take Advantage Of Opportunities Offered By EPA Training Courses

By Madge Lindsay

The creation of the Environmental Protection Agency, has passed a legislative hurdle and put some teeth into efforts to curb pollution. This has created a huge demand for certification and tuition from interested individuals, both within government bodies and the private sector. Excellent EPA training courses have been created in the response, and these are proving immensely popular.

Employees of the various government bodies tasked with responsibility for the environment at different levels can obtain tuition directly from the EPA itself. To this end both full-time and online courses are provided. The EPA is to be complimented on its far=sighted approach to training.

As far as the private sector is concerned, there will inevitably be a gradual flow of trained people from government, seeking to take advantage of the opportunities. But this is insufficient to meet the demand from industry and the many new specialist businesses. Training and certification is therefore also widely available from private colleges, either through attendance at classes and seminars or online.
There will most likely be constant changes to adapt the laws in the light of experience. This means that refresher courses will be in demand. Attending refreshers and keeping up to date with changes are both vital, because the possible legal implications of failure to do so is unimaginable. Private enterprise should be particularly vigilant, as they will be impacted the most by any failures. However, it will inevitably require expensive experiences to highlight how important this aspect is, so that compliance will become certain.

That this sort of training is available so widely is encouraging to environmentalists. There is at last some hope of beginning to make a dent in the huge pollution problem. Future changes are likely to refine controls further, and hopefully the major sources of pollution can be reduced. It would be preferable if industry were to take the lead, and not make only strictly mandatory changes to obey the letter of the laws, rather than the intent.

This whole field presents many new employment opportunities. There will also be large numbers of new businesses established to meet the need. A lot of people who are presently out of work might benefit from a change of career to this burgeoning area. They can benefit while getting a lot of job satisfaction and helping to clean up the environment.

Apart from the EPA certification, there are other qualifications in the environmental field which will round out the resume of a dedicated environmentalist. There is a lot of sense in getting all the training, as there is bound to be some overlap in practice between all the different environmental laws, although they are administered by different agencies. Being able to offer a complete service is a huge advantage.

Those people who have always been concerned about the environment will do well in this field. Further legislation is likely to be in the pipeline, and the volume of work is likely to increase, until such time as business develops a better social conscience. By taking the EPA training courses, it is possible to contribute to the future by helping to solve the problems presented by pollution today.
