Gym humour is one thing, but there is a lot to be said for the funny gym t shirts in terms of the effect it can have on your progress in the gym overall. Today we look at the positives and negatives.
It's now one of the most searched for terms in the fitness community as more and more people look to jump on the cheesy statement bandwagon.
Whether it's sarcastic, tongue-in-cheek fun or deadly serious these simple training accessories can impact not just your workouts but your life, too. Below are the positives:
* It simply brightens up your day and reminds you to stop taking yourself so seriously
* They are a very good ice breaker
* It won't just make you laugh, it'll entertain others too
But the next time you think about hitting the gym with a top which shouts out "Sorry if my biceps get in your way!", "Shut up and squat!" or "Is it massive in here, or is it just me?" you have to be sure of one thing:
Can you pull it off?
While workout humor is one thing, making yourself look silly is another thing entirely. Would "Body under construction" be more suitable than, say, "I'm the personal trainer, you're the victim!"? You need to know how to pick the most suitable thing for your current physical shape because you don't want to attract the wrong kind of attention especially in an environment which could damage self esteem if you encounter someone with an attitude problem.
This trend appears to grow in popularity almost by the month and in our gym it's now a regular fixture among hard training members.
Try adding one of these into your workout wardrobe. The positive effect it can have on your gym time, not to mention your lifestyle as it opens up new conversations with trainers you may never have spoken to otherwise, is most certainly worth it.
