Taking the time to learn about them first can make choosing the best nutrition bars a lot less intimidating. Once you learn the reason behind each type of bar and the reason each one is unique it will be easier to choose the one that is most suited to your own needs.

The latest diet studies have shown that by eating five to six small meals each day, you can lose weight faster and keep it off longer. Most of us are far too busy to be spending that much time in our kitchen each day. We then form bad habits of hitting up vending machines and grabbing unhealthy snacks to try to compensate.

Instead of taking that trip to the vending machine, a healthy nutrition bar may be a better option. Each one of these products will contain protein, fat, sugar, and carbohydrates at various levels. The one that you choose should depend on the goal you are trying to achieve.

For example, as an athlete you may choose one for energy. In this case, it will be high in carbohydrates to help increase energy. Carbohydrates, or carbs, are thought of as the one thing that will provide an athlete with some fuel to help them retain their energy levels.

Diet, or meal replacement bars will feature the fewest calories of all. These low calorie treats are intended to be used either to replace a meal or may be used as a pre-workout food. Some dieters choose to use them after a workout instead, when they need a quick pickup. They will contain more carbohydrates than they do protein to help keep up energy levels.

If the goal is to build up additional muscle, then protein is what you will need. There are protein bars that are designed to specifically help build muscle. These are used by weight lifters and other professionals that need to add muscle mass. Power bars have become popular in the military too where men and women both enjoy using them to meet their goals.

When choosing to use these foods, they are only healthy when eaten in moderation. Label reading is essential as some of these products are full of sugar making them just as unhealthy as chocolate. Look for those brands that offer low levels of refined sugar and that are low in saturated fat. If you are not a very active person, these may also cause significant weight gain. This weight gain can come on very suddenly and unexpectedly.

Regardless to what your goals are, there is definitely going to be a selection of the best nutrition bars for you to choose from. The key is, like everything, to use common sense and moderation when choosing and eating them. If you over do the intake of your energy bars you may find that you have results that are just the opposite of what you had hoped for. Too much of a good thing could turn into a disaster.
