To Read Or To Socialise - That Is The Question

We are often told that reading is very important for us. It improves our vocabulary, keeps our brains active and gets us away from the constant digital distractions of modern life. However, many of us would rather be in bars in London or hosting parties, instead of staying in bed reading a novel.
But how can you combine real life with a good book? Well, you could spend an evening out at a top restaurant reading a magazine, but your fellow diners would probably consider you less than excellent company. Another option would be a book club, a social hangout where people can read books in relaxed surroundings and talk about them with like-minded people. Where you can discuss the goings on, and join others for a drink or two afterwards!

Forget the days where book clubs were restricted to the elderly couples front room in the rural country-side with tea and scones and well ages jam and cream, there are some great book clubs happening in exclusive members club and some great social hotspots right now. Trade in the brew with crumpets and replace with wine, canaps and a discussion of the classics.

This may sound like an expensive hobby, buying a new book every time you want a new story, but in reality books are a cost affective way of staying entertained, improve your memory and build your self-esteem. These days you can get very cheap books on the iPad and Kindle and they cost a lot less than the cinema. Plus, they are usually better than the movie.
