Most art has a unique way of portraying ideas and truths to people that many other mediums fail at. This can be thoughts or ideas about the world, humanity, religion or something more specific. These revolutionary ideas and truths can be so profound that over time arts effect on society can be felt everywhere across the world.
Many times people make these connections due to them being presented in such a form that it will become universal within the thoughts of the viewing public. Over time these simple ideas become more universal and they start motivating people into action. When people follow these new actions based on these ideas or truths it may have the profound effect of altering the world everywhere. America gaining independence, the war against slavery or civil rights are a few notable examples of this happening.

The awareness people gain from art will only enrich cultures if people take action based on the ideas that are presented in art. There is also a chance that this can be used negatively as well. Art can only change things when it is experienced. Films should be watched, books read over, pictures and paintings looked at. Some pieces of art may get destroyed or banned before this happens.
One of the movies that defined women's rights was the movie deep throat. Though it was pornographic in nature and banned in many places, women everywhere embraced it and the freedoms it portrayed. There is much speculation that had this influential movie not gone mainstream women's rights could have been set back a decade or more.
One of the most famous painters Van Gogh did the starry night around 1889. This one painting became a driving factor behind the fledgling impressionist movement. By tossing caution into the wind, many artists could incorporate a more realistic poetic symmetry to what they saw or felt.
A still photograph can be one of the most powerful weapons in the world. In 1963 a young girl was photographed running from a napalm attack by South Vietnamese forces. This single picture brought home the stark reality of the Vietnam war to millions of Americans. It transcended the ideas of right and wrong and became a major rallying point
