A Short Overview Of Kush And Its Uses

By Jaclyn Hurley

When talk turns to the subject of Cannabis there seems to be as many opinions as speakers. Many people say that it is a harmless herb that is not addictive or harmful. In fact, many people are convinced that it is medicinal and that regular use can help relieve or even cure a host of illnesses. Others disagree strongly. In many countries it is illegal to deal in or even use Cannabis, or Kush as some call it. However, there are countries where it is legal and where it is sold in public places.

Cannabis is indigenous to South and Central Asia. This flowering plant has been used for many different purposes for a very long time. Some plants are specially cultivated to produce a lot of fiber, and are used for the production of hemp, a strong fiber. The plant is also used for medicinal purposes, but, of course, it is its use as a recreational drug that causes the most controversy.

Marijuana is commonly used by patients undergoing chemotherapy. It seems that Cannabis is highly effective in combating the nausea and vomiting that typically attend this invasive therapy. Common prescription medicines cause unpleasant side effects such as dizziness, hallucinations and hypotension. Patients suffering with appetite problems, such as HIV / AIDS sufferers, also use Cannabis to stimulate their appetites. This is a common side effect of Cannabis.

Marijuana is commonly used to treat chronic pain, even pain caused by neuropathy and arthritis. Cannabis is also often used by patients suffering from terminal illnesses. In addition, Cannabis is widely used for the treatment of patients suffering from multiple sclerosis. The use of the plant in this type of treatment is formally approved in ten different countries. It seems that is highly effective in treating and even preventing spasticity.

Cannabis is not only used for medicinal purposes. Evidence has been found that it has been used in religious ceremonies as far as 2700 years ago. The Jushi culture used it as an aid to divination. There is also ample evidence that it has been used extensively as part of religious ceremonies in the east. Nowadays, the Rastafarian movement claims that Cannabis is an essential part of their religion.

There are many different ways in which to use Marijuana. Most people smoke it in one form or another, using a pipe, a bong or a homemade cigarette. Some people even fashion pipes from fruits such as apples, claiming that it purifies the smoke and provide a pleasant aroma. Many people use a special device to vaporize the plant and to then inhale the resultant fumes.

There are many other ways in which to consume Marijuana. Eating it is extremely popular. Cookies and other foods containing Cannabis can be enjoyed in company because it is virtually free of the smell released when it is smoked and many people belief that the smoke contains some harmful elements. It is also possible to prepare a tea, although this is said to be an inefficient way of using it.

It seems that the use of Cannabis will remain a contentious issue for some time. Detractors are adamant that it is a drug that almost certainly leads to other, more dangerous drugs. Others maintain that it is harmless and that it has many positive uses in society. It seems unlikely that these differences of opinion will be solved any time soon.
