A Skid Steer Grapple Can Move The World

By Patrice McCoy

Many people may wonder what a skid steer grapple is. No, it is not the Adam's apple of a bull. It is not a beverage that can be purchased at a gourmet coffee store. Neither is it the latest country line dance. It could be described as a heaven sized hand reaching down and making things faster and easier. It could even be pictured as the mouth of a large dinosaur plunging down its head to grab and move materials as commanded.

A grapple could be described best as a mechanically designed hand that is connected to a tractor. The ends of the grapple can remind one of the finger tips of humans. They never get tired, however. They will continue to go until the job is finally done. Made of tough long lasting steel, the helping hand is driven through a hydraulic system which will allow for it to grab with enormous force. The heaviest objects can be lifted with ease.

This truly gives new meaning to the term farm hand. With a hand this big, there is diminishing need for a large crew of workers. Much work can get done by a smaller team. This enables a business to be more profitable. In turn the business can afford to keep workers employed longer with good benefits, including health care insurance. Perhaps grapples could be factored into the economic recovery plan.

The skid steer approach enables the grapple attachment to be used on basically any type of tractor. They are available for standard size as well as smaller tractors. This helping hand can be used for the business owner as well as the weekend warrior. From planned jobs to emergency situations, they can be relied on to deliver. Rubble from an earthquake is a cinch to plow through. Debris from an ominous storm can be removed just as easily. Thanks to the skid steer industry there are standards that help to ensure the best quality of all products.

A rod grapple is a popular type. These can be used to grab thick brush and boulders in areas that may be too dangerous for human workers. It can clear the way of metals and wires, all while the operator is safely at the helm of the tractor.

Another popular type can remove old logs and dead trees so easy it looks like child's play. The grabber requires little effort to move through these. Mixing gas and sharpening teeth for chain saws to move these out of the way is no longer required. For further forestry expertise a grapple with a rotating winch is available.

The heavy duty root grapples could be considered the heavyweights. A construction foremans friend, this one has concrete crushing force rated up to thirty nine thousand pounds. Nothing can stand in the way of the project. And when just large rocks are the focal point, skeleton grapples can be a good choice.

A skid steer grapple is a great long term investment to make. Whether seen as a heavenly hand or dinosaur assistant, it will definitely save time and make things much easier.
