Accelerated Degree Program - Are Accelerated Programs Given Credit By Your Next Employer?

By Glen Li

One of the most common questions that students have about online accelerated degree programs is whether or not they are rated highly by employers. After all, a convenient degree is one thing, but actually getting hired in the real world is another altogether. So what do employers think of accelerated online degree programs, and are they rated highly?

An accelerated degree might seem obvious in terms of what it actually is, but it's important to understand it completely. It offers the same education and the same courses as a traditional bachelor degree program in the same category. The difference is that through a variety of factors, it moves ahead at a much quicker pace, enabling you to finish in half the time you otherwise could hope.
When accelerated programs first got started though, they weren't always recognized as such. Instead, they were viewed as some weird or passing fad that didn't hold the same merit as more well known and traditional forms of education. This left students in a bind, because their accelerated degrees weren't paying dividends for them with their careers after completing all of that work.

Now though, what students are finding everywhere is that accelerated degrees have won over employers and bosses. They are certainly not second class any longer, and this can be due in part to a variety of reasons and factors which have added to the legitimacy and prevalence of this educational option.

One of the first reasons why this change has happened is that growing numbers of students choose this route each year. This means it's much more mainstream, widespread and acceptable, as opposed to some tiny sect of students that can be ignored, overlooked or disregarded as unequal.

Another major reason why accelerated programs are now rated highly is because some of the most respected educational institutions in the world now offer accelerated programs. You can't put down any degree that comes from respected universities which are known the world over and have been in existence for hundreds of years, because that's putting down the entire school.

You might even find that in some instances, a potential future employer might view you as a better candidate due to your accelerated degree, not in spite of this. Students who complete this kind of path have shown a willingness to work hard, follow through on what they set out to do, and dedicate themselves to a goal and a challenge which is considered as shorter but more intensive than other options.

So while the world of education, technology and the job market are always changing and evolving,

Yes, employers do rate them highly, and they will help you land the jobs that you want in your chosen field, adding even more incentive to get going today with an accelerated degree program.
