DISC Personality Profiles: Key to Successful Talent Management within Corporate Environment

By Christopher Estacion

Experts suggest that the primary element of every successful personal growth and talent management is the understanding of distinct personality profiles and behaviours of every individual. Using this strong understanding, people can be efficiently taught to strengthen their talents and leverage their behaviour towards personal and organisational success using the different behavioural strategies.

Among the best personality assessment tools used nowadays for determining the behaviour of individuals within a specific situation or working environment is the DISC profile system. This refers to a psychological and behavioural test based on the 1928 work of psychologist William Mourton Marston, which was further developed by Dr John Geier. This test concentrates mainly on the manner and tendencies of such behaviour.

A lot of corporate people, who have already tried this tool, were proven to have identified their individualities and surmounted their differences. With this understanding, they were able to assist each other in maximising the quality of their work and also in achieving their organisation's goals. Due to its effectiveness on building teamwork, enhancing communication and increasing productivity, this method is now widely used within the corporate world.

'Dominant', 'Influence', 'Steadiness' and 'Conscientiousness' are the four primary DISC profile types. People who fall under the 'Dominant' category, according to Success Insights behavioural test, are often decisive, demanding and determined. They also tend to become strong-headed and proactive, aside from working so hard only to achieve their desired results in an instant.

On the other hand, people who fall under the 'Influence' category are believed to be enthusiastic, sociable and convincing. These people typically look forward to teamwork and idea-sharing. By nature, they are extroverts and entertaining. People who fall under the 'Steadiness' category, however, are complete opposite of those under the 'Influence' category.

These people are usually relaxed, deliberate and constant. Most often, they work behind the spotlight and prepare to assist everyone within the team. Their strategies are typically constant and foreseeable. 'Conscientious' individuals, however, tend to be very analytic, wise and tactful. These people carefully consider points prior to making any decision and always value top quality.

If you are working within a team, these people are certainly the ones you can depend on, especially when it comes to double-checking the strategies and results. The primary advantage of using Success Insights personality test or DISC test in corporate environments is that it will help you choose the right people for the job.

Essentially, a group made up of individuals with unique personalities is powerful, eclectic and efficient. It is also a fertile ground as far as ideation is concerned. To ensure that this group will become successful, however, it is necessary for each member to be totally aware and knowledgeable of the individual DISC personality profiles. This will not only help your organisation enhance the communication skills and ease frustration among employees, but also helps boost the image and ROI of your company.
