Losing weight with NLP

By Henry Stone

Whether you have tried and failed at other weight loss methods such as calorie counting or attending the gym, or you simply don't know where to start, NLP offers a different way of thinking about losing weight. By changing the way we think about food and exercise and installing the all-important belief that we can achieve our goals, NLP works through a number of psychological methods.

NLP works by offering different psychological attitudes towards food. For instance, whilst fatty or sweet foods are tempting, NLP rewires your brain into thinking negatively about such foods so that you're no longer tempted to eat them. From how it tastes to what it is doing to your body, NLP works by making the mind reject the likes of doughnuts or chocolate.

Just as we sometimes need help to think differently about fatty foods, we need help to think differently about healthy foods. For example, many of us grew up force-fed green vegetables which then has an adverse effect right through to adulthood. NLP again rewires how our brains think of such foods, overriding our negative, subconscious reactions with newer, positive ones.

Again, changing how we think about exercise can also lead to weight loss. Subconsciously, exercise is often seen as an inconvenience, but NLP works by forcing our brains to see exercise in a positive light, essentially using our brain to tell our body what it wants and not the other way round.

NLP doesn't just offer these practical methods to losing weight, but also a range of psychological methods (such as hypnosis and other mind-control techniques) to give us the motivation to start and maintain a successful weight loss routine. Many of us lack the self-belief that we can achieve our ideal weight, but NLP works by making us believe that we can be in control of our own bodies.
