As a good Tustin personal trainer, how do you count calories efficiently? The first step is to swear to yourself that you won't place anything into your mouth that you haven't really written down in your food journal. In simple terms, you will be recording the entire calorie intake you consume before you actually eat them.

To be able to do this, you will need to have a food journal, plus the capability to get accurate calorie estimations for any variety of foods. The food journal needs to be something that is handy for you to write down food quantities that you eat throughout the course of your day. Some version of small portable notebook or spiral bound notebook often works well. Make sure the journal/notebook is convenient for your personal lifestyle.
Figuring out how to properly calculate calories is often an acquired skill. Many foods are available in packages that clearly spell out the number of calories found in a serving of the food, and just how large each serving size is. For those foods it is relatively easy to calculate calories. Examples of these types of foods are breakfast cereal, meal replacement bars, candy bars, a bag of potato chips, frozen microwave dinners, a glass of milk, etc. Then you'll find foods that don't come in packs telling you the number of calories the amount of food contains. Samples of such varieties of foods are bananas, eggs, a steak, fettuccini Alfredo in an Italian restaurant, etc. For these foods you will have to become proficient at using a calorie counting handbook. If you do not own one, go to your local bookstore and inquire where they keep their "calorie counting handbooks". Such handbooks contain hundreds of pages documenting almost any type of food you can think of, what size a serving size should be, and also how many calories each serving has. It will take several days of practice for one to be confident with getting accurate estimates of the serving sizes you consume, and also the number of calories each portion contains. It can also be beneficial to buy a food scale for weighing serving sizes. Don't forget to write down the calories before you put the food in your mouth. "Record just before you eat it" is very important to your success!

Calorie counting takes effort therefore it may be tedious sometimes. However, it is the best way to guarantee losing fat. If you intend to lose fat, the best influential action you may take is to be a calorie counting expert.
