Lucid Dream Tales - How To Recall Your Nighttime Adventures

By Christie Miller

Lucid dreaming is a technique that can help you to not only recall your dreams, but also to control them to some extent and understand that when you are in it, that you are sleeping. It is a term that was first created by a Dutch psychiatrist more than 100 years ago, around the turn of the 20th century. Since then, it is a theme that has been explored by many psychiatrists and psychologists and been the subject of several publications. It is a technique that is used for several reasons and there are many people out there who have shared their lucid dreaming stories.

When you are dreaming lucidly, you are not conscious, but you are able to become aware that you are in a dream state. This realization is something that is generally not present from the beginning of the dream, but which occurs some way into the experience. In many cases it is something occurring out of the ordinary - such as flying - that alerts you to your non-conscious state.

People may pursue the ability to dream lucidly and to some extent to have control over their dreams for several reasons. Some people use it as a therapeutic way to overcome nightmares. Others may use it to simply go on some amazing nocturnal adventures in the mind and enjoy the exhilarating ride that comes with that.

Yet other people use this method to rehearse and prepare for situations that are going to occur in real life. This may include practicing for making a speech or presentation or to have a difficult conversation. Some athletes and other performers also put this method to use to prepare for upcoming events. Doing this can build confidence for when the actual situation happens in real life.

Other people also use this technique in order to answer questions or for problem solving purposes. They may encourage their brain to focus on an issue before sleeping and then often the mind will explore the possibilities while they sleep. A slightly different twist on this is when people use the technique for creative purposes or inspiration.

You will have to practice this technique before you master it. There are also different ways that people recommend doing it. It may take some trial and error before you find a way that really works for you.

There are many places where you can also read about people's lucid dreaming stories. These are as varied as the people who practice the technique - some of them are adventurous, some sexy, some funny and some of them are also scary. Reading about these can inspire you to learn how to do the technique and it can also teach you about what you can expect from this method.

Regardless of your motivation for being interested in learning about this method, it is a good idea to learn more about the lucid dreaming stories of others. This can help you to refine your ability to use the technique and to identify what for what purpose you would use it. Many people have experienced very positive results from using it.
