Set your camera setting properly for your shot. For example, if you want to take a picture of an object in motion, you will need one kind of setting, and if you shoot an object that is still, you will need a different setting. This will avoid having unwanted effects in your photos.
Make sure you pack your photography equipment with care when going on a trip. Take extra batteries, cleaning accessories and different lenses. Try and think what is most important on your trip and how convenient it is carry to carry around.
Instead of being a passive photographer, you must direct the objects you take in your photos. As the photographer, you may need to direct your subject to get a good shot. You might be surprised by how much a little direction can improve the final product.
If you are out somewhere without your camera and discover an item you would like to take a picture of, you should take note of this spot so that you can return and take the picture whenever you have time. Keep note paper with you so you can record the locations which you want to come back to.
Whenever you are trying to decide which of you pictures to show, it is important that you select your best work. You do not want to show every picture, or too many with the same subject. It can get very boring for others to see the same thing over and over again. Keep your photo displays fresh and interesting, and show off a variety of aspects of your creative photography talents.
Try cropping your photographs to make them look more appealing. In some cases, a shot might be perfect except for that magazine lying on the floor in the background. Other times, you could have a perfect picture; however, it wasn't lined up the right way, which caused it to be off the center. These issues can be easily fixed with some simple cropping.
For the white balance setting on your camera, set it yourself. Many people use their cameras with the auto settings on, and the camera will adjust the white balance to the setting it thinks is correct, even though it might not look the best. Messing around with the white balance can take out the yellowing of subjects that are bright from incandescent bulbs, and it can even change the entire mood of the picture.
