The act of coaching a team of athletes is always subject to many challenges that must be tackled with a lot of expertise to avoid the risks of going down to the drains. This then calls for the intervention of a qualified coach equipped with the necessary knowledge to go about such challenges. The candidates undergoing training must also be in a position to endure the tough moments during training in order to realize a success in their career.
First, a coach needs to identify each athlete with his area of proficiency. There are many games categorized in the athletics docket and placing the right candidate on the right game is essential to meeting goals. For various reasons, all the coaches cannot apply a universal coaching plan. This is dictated by the location, country or even special Olympic programs that might be provided. As a result, a coach formulates his own training plan depending on the population and type of team. This is because he himself understands his team and can come up with the most appropriate strategies for training.

The coach is supposed to divide his team into two. The first group should be made of experienced athletes who will need limited or no guidance in doing their practice. This is because they already know all the basics and could be merely perfecting on their respective fields. The next group is always for the new members of the team who require very close supervision from the coach in order to catch up.

An essential procedure that needs not to be neglected by the coach is engaging his team members in healthy competitions that motivate them. This includes setting targets for individual athletes so as to keep them aiming at higher targets. This will vary depending on the previous performance and potential of the candidate.

Fellow candidates may also be involved in training their juniors to enhance solidarity. Lastly, a coach also gives his class moral support to make them psychologically prepared for a match. Coaching athletes for the Olympics has always bore fruits for a dedicated team.
