Commit To Staying In Shape Throughout Your Life

By Vanessa Summer

Finding a person who has maintained an excellent fitness level during their entire life is tough to do. There are many men and women who are extremely unfit from an early age and others who may have been in good physical condition at one stage of their lives but for a variety of reasons have then become even more inactive. This might be caused by a change of circumstances or merely that at a certain age they have decided they are past their best. If you keep your body physically fit by committing to exercise, you experience much better health and can anticipate being full of energy. In the following paragraphs we're going to look at why being fit is vital at the various stages of your life.

As you move through your formative years, you are creating new habits that will be important for the remainder of your life. There are lots of distractions today including game consoles and easy fast food, so it is essential that sport and exercise is still considered to be a priority for a young person. If you are a parent, you can set a good example by keeping physically fit yourself and committing the time to help your kids to follow a variety of sporting activities.

As you move from adolescence to adulthood, you become responsible for yourself, and you have the potential to work on your fitness until you have reached your peak. Nonetheless, there is also the danger that you begin to ignore your body as you try to find other ways to enjoy yourself and this can be the first step to a far more unhealthy lifestyle. Of course, there isn't anything wrong with enjoying yourself but you have to be sure to make time for physical exercise too.

At the following stage of life, from the ages of forty to sixty, you will most likely have different responsibilities to consider. You may no longer have time to dedicate to your athletic hobbies and may put your fitness efforts aside. Actually, if you really want to, you'll make time for exercise and the rest of your life will benefit because of that. It can give you a method for changing stress into focused energy and help you get away from your anxieties for a short while.

When you reach sixty and begin to move into the later years of your life, it is very easy to develop the mindset that you are now far too old to keep fit. The opposite is actually true as keeping your muscles and bones stronger in later life will slow aging and you will start to feel younger consequently. Practicing a less strenuous kind of exercise, such as Tai Chi, could be a better exercise choice. Nevertheless, weight lifting has been proven to help reverse some of what we take for granted when we grow older although it always make sense to take medical advice before undertaking any new fitness regime.

If you commit to being healthy throughout your life, you could continue being active and feel younger into your later years.
